    It probably *should* be legal, and most likely *is* for now, but you can bet if the producer organizations had their way, downloading it at all would be illegal.

    When using the torrent you would most likely be uploading the film to others as well as downloading it yourself (unless you changed the settings in Transmission). Also, the license provided by the copyright holder of that film is for the DVD version only. So legally you wouldn’t have much of a case. Obviously you could try and use ‘reason’ and ‘logic’ by waving the boxes and receipts in their face, but these are lawyers you’re dealing with. Technically it’s still against the law, and lawyers love technicalities. It’s a shame the media companies are still dragging their heels at providing decent digital alternatives.
